"Heritage and Enduring Vision"

Legend to accompany painting.

Since 1872 the name Maryville has opened the doors of opportunity and
pathways of knowledge for thousands of people. There is a common thread
between graduates of the past and graduates of today. That thread is an
education grounded in the liberal arts and rooted in the morals and values
synonymous with the Maryville name. That thread which ties Maryville's rich
history to its vibrant present is illustrated in this painting created by
St. Louis artist Stuart Morse.
The painting features, clockwise from the top left, the administration
building at the Meramec and Nebraska campus, the Anheuser-Busch Academic
Center, the chapel of "the old Maryville", the Art and Design Building, the
University Library building, and centered behind the entrance off Highway
40, the University Center.
