Location: In the southwestern
corner of Colorado is the old mining town of Silverton. West of Silverton is an
area called Ice Lake Basin. Starting at 9,000 feet, the hike is a 3,000 foot climb over 5 miles. Stacey and Stuart and their faithful dog Lucy, all with packs, ascended this area with camera equipment and camping gear. |
The area houses a number of lakes above timberline that drain down into this area which consists of a steep climb up to a large meadow at the timberline. Here we made base camp from which photo excursions were made. Stacey and Stuart took a number of photos in this alpine meadow. | |
On the second day a day hike was
made up to the upper lake region. Photos were collected of the area on this hike
which went up to a large secluded platteau. Morning Sun hitting ridge tops. View from timberline meadow. |
