On the Trail in South Dakota. Started in 2000 Art Expeditions began to travel the route of Lewis and Clark. Our team of Art Explorers (Our family) set out to capture and document the different communities and landscapes along the route. Goals:
The following are selections from our adventures in South Dakota with this
project. |

Notes: Our journey began at the mouth of the
Missouri River on the Mighty Mississippi. After the Missouri,
Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa
landscapes, South Dakota surprised us with its unique terrain and vastness. The lack of trees made us think of the journal entries of the Expedition when they encountered the Great Plains. Its sudden depressions are small to the rest of the surrounding plains, but very large to us as we explore. The large open skies made us think of what Lewis and Clark and their crew must of seen in the big clear night skies they encountered.
